Zhabinka Sugar Refinery taps into Mongolian market

ZHABINKA, 14 May (BelTA) - Zhabinka Sugar Refinery has started supplying products to Mongolia, the company’s director Aleksandr Poznansky told the media, BelTA learned.

The factory is preparing for the start of a new season of sugar beet processing. "We are replacing the outdated equipment, which is made of black metal, with the one of stainless steel. We are installing new economical, environmentally friendly pumps and modernizing pipelines. We try to be on par with all requirements. We have attained ‘halal’ and ‘kosher’ certificates. We are growing, moving forward," Aleksandr Poznansky said.

Every year the areas planted to sugar beet in the district increase by 5-7% on average. This year these will be 24,300 hectares. Last season the plant in Zhabinka produced 141,000 tonnes of sugar.

"We produce weighted, packaged, gelling sugar. We are working on another new product, which we are keeping secret for the time being. I think it will hit store shelves in the next two months. Besides, we produce granulated dried cake and molasses,” Aleksandr Poznansky noted. “We have something to be proud of: we have tapped into the Mongolian market. We also supply our goods to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Israel. We also make sugar shipments to the USA (limited batches though). The Russian Federation accounts for about 70% of our exports".

First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Petkevich met with the staff of the Zhabinka Sugar Refinery on 14 May. The key topics were regional development and healthcare.
