Training of Zimbabwe specialists by Belarusian automaker BelAZ under consideration

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – Zimbabwe is considering the possibility of getting the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ to train its specialists. The possibility was looked into as Zimbabwean Minister of Mines and Mining Development Winston Chitando visited the company, BelTA has learned.

The BelAZ press service said it was not the first visit of the Zimbabwean minister to the Belarusian company. This time negotiations with BelAZ's top managers focused on the possibility of training technical specialists from Zimbabwe using the company's training center. A driving simulator used to train drivers was particularly interesting.

At present BelAZ-made haul trucks, front-side loaders, and dust control sprinklers are used in a coal mine of Hwange Colliery Company and by Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company.

Zimbabwe boasts considerable reserves of mineral resources such as coal, diamonds, gold, lithium, copper, and other ones. Since 2014 Zimbabwe has been a promising target market for selling BelAZ trucks. The shipment of 52 trucks to Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company in 2017 was one of the largest non-CIS deals BelAZ had sealed within one year.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's leading manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for mining industry and civil engineering industry. BelAZ accounts for some 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
