Plans to assemble Belarusian fire trucks, municipal vehicles in Azerbaijan

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Plans have been drafted to assemble Belarusian fire trucks and municipal vehicles in Azerbaijan, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko.

Igor Petrishenko said: “As part of the efforts to fulfill the instructions given by the heads of state during a state visit of the Belarus president to Azerbaijan a trilateral agreement has been signed on assembling our fire-fighting vehicles based on MAZ chassis at premises of Ganja Automobile Plant. This document will allow us to satisfy Azerbaijan’s need for vehicles. The Emergencies Ministry needs them. About 400 trucks are supposed to be assembled.”

In his words, the possibility of expanding the line of Belarusian tractors assembled in Azerbaijan was also discussed. “We’ve also talked about assembling not only fire trucks based on MAZ chassis but municipal vehicles such as garbage trucks. In the future we will talk about Amkodor vehicles in order to find partners. Delivery and assembly of elevator equipment are also on the agenda. We are ready to interact actively. It is supposed to result in a substantial increase in our trade turnover,” the deputy prime minister said.

Igor Petrishenko also remarked that several electrobuses had been shipped to Azerbaijan. “Azerbaijani colleagues will think about possible assembly of our electric vehicles in Azerbaijan,” he noted.

A session of the Belarus-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation took place in Minsk on 6 June. After that the Azerbaijani delegation visited the mechanical engineering company BKM Holding.
