MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) - Belarus views Zimbabwe as a reliable strategic partner in Africa, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich during his talks with Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa, BelTA learned.
“Belarus is proud of the strategic cooperation with Zimbabwe, which has become our calling card in Africa. We consider Zimbabwe as a reliable strategic partner on the African continent,” Viktor Karankevich said.
According to the deputy prime minister, the members of the Belarusian government delegation have clear instructions from the head of state to continue implementing the agreements reached at the highest level, to find solutions to the bottlenecks that hamper the pace of their implementation, to work out new projects in promising areas.
“Belarus is happy to see Zimbabwe’s active social and economic development. Your government sets the right priorities and pays great attention to the integrated development of agriculture, energy, industry and infrastructure,” Viktor Karankevich emphasized.
He also noted that deliveries of tractors, combine harvesters and grain trucks under the third phase of the joint program of mechanization of Zimbabwe's agriculture have begun. “I am happy to note that in addition to working together to ensure Zimbabwe's food security, we are actively working on other joint projects,” the deputy prime minister said.
According to Viktor Karankevich, this will be evidenced by agreements to supply machine-sets to set up bus assembly production. “It is important for us not to lose the momentum in relations and to think about future joint projects in agriculture, energy, waste processing, on supply of medical preparations and products. Knowing your systemic approach to the implementation of the outlined plans, I am convinced that your mutually beneficial proposals will be supported and the process of strategic development of the relations of friendship and true brotherhood between Belarus and Zimbabwe will be continued,” he concluded.
