MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti will be in Belarus on 6-7 February on an official visit, the EBRD press service told BelTA.
The EBRD president is expected to have several meetings in Minsk, including with representatives of the Belarusian government.
While in Minsk Suma Chakrabarti will introduce the new head of the EBRD office in Belarus Marina Petrov.
In 2019 the EBRD set a new record in its operation in Belarus: the bank invested over €390 million in 24 projects in the private sector and the public one.
The EBRD is a multilateral bank fostering the development of the private sector and entrepreneurship initiatives in 38 economies on three continents. The bank's shareholders are 69 countries as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank. Since the EBRD began working in Belarus in 1992, the bank has invested nearly €2.9 billion in 130 projects in various branches of the national economy.
