MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Export-oriented branches of the economy need systemic decisions to avoid having to request state support. Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin made the relevant statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.
According to the prime minister, the Belarusian economy faces multiple challenges. In particular, the mechanical engineering industry is experiencing certain complications. “After all, we have always been historically focused primarily on the Russian market. And certainly, the situation on the market of our closest and largest partner cannot but affect [the Belarusian economy],” Aleksandr Turchin explained.
“Export is about tough, competitive fight. We would like to find systemic decisions for some economy branches, for enterprises that would not force us to once again contact the president after a certain period of time and request state support,” the head of government said.
Another task assigned to the government is curbing inflation. Aleksandr Turchin stressed that while dealing with the matter, it is necessary to strike a balance so that people would be satisfied with prices and enterprises would not have to deal with disadvantageous terms.
