MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) - The Belarusian electricity grid has set a new all-time historical record. During a period of severe frosts, the system recorded a new record-breaking instantaneous load demand of 7,325MW, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry of Belarus.
“This is the highest figure in our entire history. For comparison: in February 2025 it was 6,721 MW, representing an increase of 604 MW over the previous record. At the same time, the record for daily electricity consumption has also been updated - 153.6 million kWh (compared to 144.5 million kWh a year earlier)," the Energy Ministry said.
One of the key factors driving the increase in the load was the sharp drop in air temperature, the rise in thermal energy supply, and the active use of electricity by households.
