Belarusian Brestmash to make first batch of light trucks in 2026

BREST, 10 December (BelTA) – OAO Brestmash intends to make the first batch of light trucks in 2026. The plans were mentioned as a delegation of Brest Oblast met with Chinese partners in the city of Hefei, representatives of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.

Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Batsenko noted: “Today Brestmash together with a partner company has signed a contract for the delivery of 200 assembly kits in 2026 for the sake of assembling low-tonnage trucks varying from 3.5 tonnes to 8 tonnes. Once we begin manufacturing, we will continue looking for more ways to localize manufacturing in order to make these trucks Belarusian as much as possible.”

The Belarusian side is interested in implementing the project for making low-tonnage trucks. “At present plans are being worked out on investments, on increasing the output volume. Measures to encourage manufacturing localization are being worked out. The first few parts have been ordered. Plans are in place to make the first vehicles in Q1 2026,” representatives of the Brest Oblast administration noted. Brestmash Company intends to make at least 200 units of these vehicles in 2026.

Representatives of China’s private sector invested over $200 million in the economy of Brest Oblast in the last few years. On the whole, capital from 30 states is in use in Brest Oblast while products of local enterprises are exported to 92 countries.

A Brest Oblast delegation led by Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Piotr Parkhomchik is in China on a visit on 6-11 December. The itinerary includes meetings, negotiations, the signing of contracts and agreements, tours of leading enterprises. The Brest Oblast representatives worked in Shanghai. Then they moved to Anhui Province, which has been twinned with the Belarusian region since 2017.
