Belarusian Bellesbumprom triples export to China in 2019

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Enterprises of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom exported $578.6 million worth of merchandise in 2019, 3.6% up from 2018, the Bellesbumprom press service told BelTA.

Bellesbumprom enterprises exported nearly 70% of their output. The choice of exports included about 80 product titles. The top sellers were various wood boards ($161 million), furniture ($124 million), paper and pasteboard ($85.3 million), plywood ($64 million), and pulp ($53.2 million).

Bellesbumprom products were shipped to 69 countries, including traditional markets and new yet promising ones. For instance, export to China amounted to $49.2 million, 3.3 times as much as in 2018. Bellesbumprom's export to Israel, Iran, the UAE, and Portugal grows steadily.

Shipments to European countries were on the rise. For instance, export to Finland increased by more than ten times, to Austria by nearly three times, and to Luxembourg by 1.3 times.

Russia remained the largest buyer of Bellesbumprom products -- $185.4 million or 32% of the total export volume. Russia was followed by Poland ($89.8 million) and Ukraine ($59.8 million).

On the whole, Bellesbumprom managed to nearly evenly distribute its export among countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (37.8%), the European Union (35.1%), and distant-arc countries (27%).
