Belarus, Türkiye identify opportunities for cooperation in gas infrastructure development

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz identified promising areas for industrial cooperation during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Belarus Güçlü Cem Işik, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Prospects of expanding Belarusian-Turkish cooperation in power engineering were on the agenda. In particular, the parties touched upon interaction in gas industry, development of shipments of peat products and deep peat processing products, the sharing of the best practices in the sphere of nuclear energy.

Denis Moroz remarked that about 2 million tonnes of peat is extracted in Belarus every year. “This resource is used as fuel, as a raw material to make the soils and other products that agriculture and urban beautification need,” the source noted. The Belarusian side also mentioned massive modernization of the power grid infrastructure.

Opportunities for industrial cooperation in the development of gas infrastructure were looked into starting with grid construction and ending with the production of equipment and natural gas meters.

The parties agreed an algorithm of consequent interaction for the sake of exploring possible avenues of intensifying cooperation in energy industry. Denis Moroz stressed the readiness for further advancement of the mutually beneficial dialogue and for working out promising avenues of interaction.
