MOSCOW, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin pointed to a shortage of tourism infrastructure in the Belarus-Russia Union State and called for stimulating mutual investment into this sector as he spoke at a meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers in Moscow on 2 February, BelTA has learned.
“The tourism industry in the Union State is confidently gaining momentum. Thanks to the created safe environment, absence of borders, and transport accessibility, mutual tourist flow is increasing year by year. However, a shortage of infrastructure is felt. Within the Union State, we can stimulate mutual investment in tourism infrastructure, develop tourism support measures, synchronize the regulation of tourism activities in the two countries, and develop and promote tourism products for the external market,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

In his words, a Union State tourism information center is planned to open in Smolensk. “I believe that in the foreseeable future, we will open a similar tourism center in one of the cities in our country,” the prime minister said.
“Three more documents necessary for launching cross-border suburban rail service within the Union State are in an advanced stage of readiness,” added Aleksandr Turchin.
