MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich met with a delegation from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), BelTA learned from the Transport and Communications Ministry.
The Transport and Communications Ministry hosted the IMO expert group as they visited Belarus for a mandatory audit of the country's compliance with its international maritime transport obligations.
Belarus has been an IMO member since 2016. At the audit wrap-up meeting, Aleksei Lyakhnovich thanked the expert group for their productive joint efforts.
The IMO representatives, for their part, highlighted the high level of openness and constructive engagement with the Belarusian transport authority in tackling any operational and organizational issues.
“The parties expressed their intention to deepen further cooperation. The head of the audit team conveyed an invitation from the IMO secretary general to Aleksei Lyakhnovich to take part in the next session of the IMO Assembly, to be held in December 2026," the press service said.
