Belarus’ exchange exports of farm products to Uzbekistan more than double in Q1 2026

MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ exports of agricultural products to Uzbekistan through the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) in the first quarter of 2026 grew 2.3 times year-on-year. The matter was discussed during a presentation on the use of the exchange mechanism at the UzFood 2026 international food exhibition in Tashkent, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

“In January–March, Belarusian exchange participants sold agricultural products worth $10.8 million to Uzbekistan, which is 2.3 times more than in the same period last year. Of that, 87% of sales came from dry whole and skimmed milk, while the remaining 13% was provided by exports of butter and beef,” BUCE reported.

In addition to the presentation and seminar on exchange trading, UzFood 2026 also featured individual negotiations with trading organizations from Central Asian countries interested in importing Belarusian dairy products, meat semi-finished products, sugar, and feed additives. Accreditation of these companies on BUCE will make it possible to increase supply volumes and expand the range of Belarusian-made goods exported to the region.

According to BUCE, in January–March, residents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan purchased goods on the exchange platform totaling $67.8 million. This is twice as much as the same figure for 2025. The share of agricultural products in Belarus’ exchange exports to Central Asian countries was 51%.

During the BUCE representative’s visit to Uzbekistan, a meeting was held with the head of the strategic planning, information analysis and international cooperation department of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. The parties agreed to scale up the positive experience of using exchange trading for the sale of Uzbek textile raw materials in Belarus. To this end, BUCE and the agency plan to join forces to attract Uzbek producers of cotton yarn and polyester threads to the Belarusian exchange platform.

Since the beginning of the year, 15 new business entities from Uzbekistan have joined BUCE, bringing the total number of accredited companies from that country on the exchange to 267.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
