Belarus’ energy minister meets with Hungary’s FM in Sochi

SOCHI, 25 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto on the sidelines of the Atomexpo International Forum in Sochi, BelTA learned the press service of the Energy Ministry.

The parties discussed the prospects of sharing experience in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, personnel training, management and handling of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. They also discussed the possibilities of involving Belarusian specialists in the implementation of the Paks-2 NPP project in Hungary.

The terms of bilateral cooperation are being worked out at the level of the joint working group on cooperation in the nuclear energy sector. “In fact, an additional platform has been formed where Belarusian and Hungarian specialists will be able to exchange positive practices in the development of nuclear energy infrastructure,” Viktor Karankevich said.

In turn, Peter Szijjarto praised the high level of implementation of the NPP construction project in Belarus. He expressed Hungary’s interest in studying the experience and competences accumulated by Belarus.

The Atomexpo International Forum is the largest exhibition and business platform to discuss the current state of the nuclear industry and launch its further development trends. The forum is attended by heads of key companies of the international nuclear industry, government agencies, international and public organizations, and leading experts.
