MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) - Belarus has put into operation 1.845 million square meters of residential housing in the first six months of 2024, Belarusian Architecture and Construction Minister Aleksandr Studnev said on the air of the ONT television channel on 8 August, BelTA learned.
According to him, the country's construction industry is maintaining stable momentum: "We are fulfilling all targets set by the president and the government. In the first half of the year, we commissioned 1.845 million square meters of housing which represents over 41% of the annual target," the minister emphasized.
"We’re now placing special emphasis on rental housing development, support for large families, and urban infrastructure modernization. Key objectives include streamlining the outdated regulations and assimilating advanced construction technologies,” the minister said. “Our goal is to digitalize processes, eliminate development bottlenecks, and create new industrial opportunities, both for domestic market growth and export expansion.”
Among the ambitious priorities, the minister highlighted glass and ceramic tile manufactures and cement export.
Aleksandr Studnev reaffirmed the focus on state-supported housing for large families. “Our primary focus remains rental housing construction, the task set by the president. Equally crucial is state-subsidized housing for large families. I’d highlight that over the past four years, we’ve delivered approximately 17.2 million square meters of housing. We’re fully committed to meeting the government’s five-year targets.”
The minister detailed upcoming residential developments near the Kolodishchi agro-town in Minsk District and Zelyony Bor residential area in the city of Minsk. “This will be state-supported developments exclusively for Minsk residents in need of better housing. No other construction volumes are planned for these zones. Naturally, this will include essential infrastructure such as kindergartens and schools," he emphasized.
