UEFA Europa League: BATE Borisov lose to Arsenal 2-4

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – FC BATE Borisov fell 2-4 to London's Arsenal in the EUFA Europa League home game on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

The Gunners showed their high level from the very start as Theo Walcott netted his first in the 9th minute. He doubled the score in the 22nd minute. Three minutes later Rob Holding scored his first Arsenal goal. Olivier Giroud rolled home the penalty to celebrate his 100th Arsenal goal.

Twice BATE trimmed the Gunners' lead as Mirko Ivanic and Mikhail Gordeichuk struck either side of half-time.

Elsewhere, FC Koln was edged by Red Star Belgrade 0-1 on the home ground. In Group H first round, FC BATE Borisov drew with Red Star Belgrade 1-1, while Arsenal beat FC Koln 3-1.

The team standings after two rounds: Arsenal – 6 points, Red Star Belgrade – 4, BATE Borisov – 1, FC Koln – 0.

In the next round scheduled for 19 October FC BATE will host FC Koln, while Arsenal will travel to face Red Star Belgrade.
