Tsmoki Minsk saw off Apoel, advance to FIBA Europe Cup Second Round

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – BC Tsmoki Minsk clinched a victory on the final day of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season to top Group J.

The Minskers started in a great manner on the home ground against the Cypriots and led throughout the game to secure an 81-68 victory. Djordje Gagic led the Dragons with 23 points.

In the First Round the Belarusian team beat the Cypriots 71-70. Then, the Dragons were too strong for Lithuania's BC Siauliai 86-71 (at home) and 90-77 (away), and also traded victories with BK Pardubice 80-75 (away) and 78-82 (at home).

The Czech team edged Siauliai 89-85 on 23 November to book their ticket to the Second Round together with BC Tsmoki Minsk. The Group J final standings are as follows: BC Tsmoki Minsk – 11 points, BK Pardubice – 10, Apoel Nicosia – 9, BC Siauliai – 6.

The two best teams from each of 10 groups as well as four best-finishing third-place teams advance to the second stage of the tournament. In the Second Round, which is to kick off on 14 December, 24 teams will be divided into six groups. The winners of the groups as well as two best second-place teams will advance into the Round of Last 16, where they will be joined by eight teams from the Champions League.
