MP: Second European Games will have a positive economic effect on country's tourism sector

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The Second European Games that Belarus is set to host in 2019 will have a positive economic effect on the tourism sector, Chairman of the House of Representatives' Permanent Commission on Economic Policy Vladislav Shchepov told the media on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

According to the MP, the organization of this important sport event will have a positive long-term economic effect on the tourism sector. Vladislav Shchepov also stressed that Belarus has the necessary infrastructure which should be used, including for hosting the European Games.

MP Valery Borodenya said that money invested in such events pay back many times, first of all, through the formation of the country's positive image that attracts foreigners. The MP cited the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Minsk as an example.
