Mirnyi progresses to Roland Garros mixed doubles quarterfinal

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Max Mirnyi of Belarus has completed his performance at the men's doubles event of the Roland Garros, but continues his run in the mixed doubles, BelTA has learned.

In the match for the men's doubles quarterfinal Mirnyi and Treat Huey of the Philippines lost to the French tandem of Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in two sets 4-6, 4-6. Earlier, the Belarusian-Filipino duo, seeded tenth, beat the Italian duo of Fabio Fognini and Andreas Seppi 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-1, and then Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania and Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4.

In the mixed doubles Max Mirnyi teamed up with Chan Yung-jan of China has celebrated two victories reaching the quarterfinal. The seven-seeded Belarusian-Chinese duet started their Roland Garros campaign with a win over the Romanian pair of Horia Tecau and Simona Halep 7-5, 7-6. Then they beat Serbia's Jelena Jankovic and Nenad Zimonjic 7-5, 6-4.

The Roland Garros will be over on 5 June.
