MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Max Mirnyi of Belarus and his partner Treat Huey of the Philippines have progressed to the third round of the French Open, BelTA has learned.
The tenth-seeded Belarusian-Filipino duo beat Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania and Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4 in the second round. In the opener Mirnyi and Huey were too strong for the Italian duo of Fabio Fognini and Andreas Seppi 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
The mixed doubles event Max Mirnyi will team up with Chan Yung-jan of China. The Belarusian-Chinese duet will start their Roland Garros campaign against the Romanian pair of Horia Tecau and Simona Halep.
Belarus' Alexander Bury and Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan lost their first round to the Indian-Polish tandem of Mahesh Bhupathi and Marcin Matkowski 6-7 (3-7), 6-7 (6-8).
Victoria Azarenka, Aleksandra Sasnovich and Olga Govortsova all went out in the first round of the French Open.
