Matt Ellison named KHL player of week

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Dinamo Minsk forward Matt Ellison was named best forward of the 22nd week of the eighth season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), BelTA learnt from the KHL press service.

In his four appearances during the week Matt Ellison earned 5 points (3+2), including 14 shots at goal and a pair of goals on the road at Lada.

The Dinamo Minsk forward is one of the best strikers of the league. Matt Ellison collected 53 points (25+28) in 52 games to play sixth in the chart. The table of strikers is topped by Sergei Mozyakin (Metallurg Magnitogorsk) with 67 points (32+35).

The KHL Players of the Week also included Salavat Yulaev goaltender Niklas Svedberg, Avtomobilist defenseman Tommi Kivisto and 21-year-old HC Sochi forward Vadim Shchegolkov as the best rookie.

With two played still to be played in the regular season Dinamo Minsk goes ninth in the West and is out of contention for a playoff place. The Minsk Bisons will complete the 8th KHL regular season with games against Spartak on 16 February and Torpedo on 18 February.
