MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Matt Ellison netted his second hat trick in two games to help Dinamo Minsk rout the visiting Barys Astana 6-2 in the KHL action on 5 October, BelTA has learned.
Jonathan Cheechoo, Paul Szczechura and Artur Gavrus also contributed to the Minsk offense.
Earlier Barys opened the scoring and it was the only puck hitting the back of the net in the first period. The Bisons produced a real blast with five goals in the second frame. Barys could answer only once with Keaton Ellerby reducing the gap to the minimum midway through the middle stanza. After that Matt Ellison's two powerplay goals and one more in even strength earned him another hat trick and a solid win for his team.
With 27 points the Bisons have climbed to the 7th position in the West.
Dinamo Minsk will wrap up their home series against Severstal Cherepovets on 8 October.
