Domracheva wins Pursuit silver

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva of Belarus made one of the biggest jumps from the 27th at the start to claim silver in the Women's 10K Pursuit event of the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Hochfilzen, Austria, BelTA has learned.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the athlete on her first medal since making her return to sport after giving birth.

The Belarusian biathlete kicked off 27th, almost a minute and a half behind Sprint gold medalist Gabriela Koukalova of Czech Republic. Darya Domracheva, however, showed perfect skiing skills and cleaned all the four shooting ranges. The Belarusian finished second, just 11.6 seconds behind Laura Dahlmeier of Germany who claimed the Pursuit gold with one penalty in 28.02.3. Bronze went to Gabriela Koukalova, with three penalties, 16.6 seconds back.

Nadezhda Skardino, with one penalty, crossed the finish line 19th, 1:35.4 back. Irina Krivko made three penalties to finish 45th, 3:05.6 behind the winner.
