MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – The legendary Argentinean football player Diego Maradona will work at FC Dynamo Brest, BelTA has learnt from the press service of the football club.
“The Argentinean has signed a three-year contract with FC Dynamo Brest and has become Chairman of the Management Board of the club. Diego Maradona will be in charge of the team's strategic development and will interact with all its structural subdivisions, including the Junior Academy of the football club,” the press service noted.
Diego Maradona will get down to work after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
A press conference featuring Diego Maradona and representatives of the Brest football club will take place at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, in the near future.
Czech specialist Radoslav Latal was the head coach of the football club this season. With him in charge the Brest-based team won the Super Cup and qualified for the final of Belarus' Cup. However, the start of the national championship was not successful for FC Dynamo Brest and after the team suffered defeat from FC Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino, Radoslav Latal and the club's management decided to terminate cooperation. Brest-born Sergei Kovalchuk who started out as sports director of FC Dynamo Brest took charge of the club.
Diego Maradona is regarded by many as one of the greatest footballers of all time. He led the Argentina national team from 1977 to 1994. Diego Maradona captained his team to victory in Mexico in 1986 and to silver in the 1990 World Cup in Italy. As part of the national team he played in 91 games and scored 34 goals. Diego Maradona has been working as a coach since 1994.More about Sport
