Belarus' Tsurkin 5th in European Swimming Championships in London

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Yevgeny Tsurkin of Belarus finished fifth in the 50m butterfly at the European Swimming Championships in London, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian clocked 23.67 seconds in the final. Andriy Govorov of Ukraine claimed gold in 22.92. Silver went to Cseh Laszlo of Hungary (23.31), with Ben Proud of the UK taking bronze in 23.67.

Belarus will also be represented at the competitions in London by Viktor Staselovich (50m freestyle and 100m backstroke), Yulia Khilaya (50m and 100m freestyle), Svetlana Khokhlova (50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly), Alina Zmushko (50m and 100m breaststroke).

The tournament in the United Kingdom will complete on 22 May.
