MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Pavel Bareisha of Belarus placed 4th in the men's hammer throw final at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian threw his best of 77.02m to finish one step from the podium. Wojciech Nowicki of Poland triumphed in the event with his third effort of 80.12m. Silver went to his fellow countryman Pawel Fajdek (78.69m). Hungary's Bence Halasz collected bronze with 77.36m.
Rio Olympics silver medalist Ivan Tikhon of Belarus finished sixth with his seasonal best of 75.79m.
Two years ago, at the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam, Ivan Tikhon clinched silver with 78.84m. Pawel Fajdek of Poland won gold then.
The 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin will be over on 12 August.
