Belarus government reviews Second European Games action plan

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – An action plan to prepare for the Second European Games 2019 in Belarus has been discussed in the government, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

“On 23 February Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov hosted a meeting of the national organizing committee for the Second European Games 2019 in Belarus. The participants of the meeting considered the action plan for the preparation to the competitions and also the establishment of the directorate for the Second European Games,” the press service said.

Andrei Kobyakov noted that all the subcommittees had been set up. “The plans of activities for the subcommittees should be confirmed within one month. All the issues should be addressed operationally,” the Premier stressed.

Belarus was given the right to host the Second European Games in 2019 after a vote at the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Minsk on 21 October. The first edition of the European Games was held in Azerbaijan on 12-28 June 2015. Belarus won 43 (10 gold, 11 silver and 22 bronze) medals to place seventh in the medal table.
