Belarus beat New Zealand in friendly

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – Belarus beat New Zealand 1-0 in a friendly in Minsk on 12 June, BelTA has learned.

The hosts held advantage in the first half and realized it at the very beginning of the second one. Aleksei Rios fed Igor Burko, who sent the ball into the corner of the net. Denis Polyakov was just in time to redirect it for 1-0 on the scoreboard.

It is the second victory for the Belarusian team under Igor Kriushenko. Last Friday, on 9 June, Belarus defeated Bulgaria 2-1 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.

The Belarusian national football team will next play Luxembourg in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on 31 August. New Zealand will travel to St. Petersburg to play the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup opener against Russia on 17 June.
