MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – Alexandra Sasnovich of Belarus, ranked 107th in the world, lost her US Open first round to Lauren Davis of the United States 2-6, 6-4, 5-7, BelTA has learned.
Two other Belarusian players, Olga Govortsova and Arina Sobolenko, did not come through qualifying.
On 30 August Belarus' Ilya Ivashko, ranked 182nd in the world, will open the tournament against Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain (World No.39). Ilya Ivashko came through the qualifying stage of the US Open claiming three victories. Yegor Gerasimov of Belarus failed to reach the main draw.
In the men's doubles event ninth-seeded Max Mirnyi of Belarus and his partner Treat Huey of the Philippines will open against the Spanish-Dominican tandem of Nicolas Almagro and Victor Estrella Burgos.
