Belarus 12th in FIBA Women's World Ranking

MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) - The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has published the rankings of the world's strongest national basketball teams. Belarus hold No.72 position among 79 teams in the women's ranking, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Basketball Federation.

The Belarusian women's national basketball team which has taken part in two Olympic Games and six world cups has 213 points. The top ten teams are:

1. USA – 1000 points;

2. Spain – 690;

3. France – 550;

4. Australia – 467;

5. Canada – 356;

6. Czechia – 352;

7. Turkey – 308;

8. Serbia – 278;

9. Brazil – 268;

10. China – 250.

Russia is ranked 11th with 214 points.

The FIBA Rankings take into account the performance of national teams at international competitions, namely Olympic Games, FIBA Basketball World Cup, Eurobasket, and the championships of Africa, Asia, America, and Oceania.

Coached by Natalya Trofimova, the Belarusian team will play in FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers against Poland away on 11 November and against Estonia at home on 15 November.
