MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Belarus is ahead 1-0 against Germany following the 2018 Fed Cup World Group first tie at Chizhovka Arena on 10 February, BelTA informs.
In the first rubber world number 63 Aryna Sabalenka fought back 4-6 6-1 6-2 to give Belarus an opening victory over Germany's top nominee Tatjana Maria.
The match lasted for an hour and 44 minutes.
After the game Aryna Sabalenka said she could not adjust to her rival's playing matter at first, but then she managed to build up her game and took the victory.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus (World No.46) is going to face Antonia Lottner (149) in the second singles rubber.
The teams will play two more singles rubbers and one doubles rubber on 11 February.
