2018 IIHF World Championship groups announced

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has announced the schedule of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, BelTA has learned.

The 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will take place in Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark on 4-20 May. Belarus will play against Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, France and Austria in Group A. The Group A games will be held at the 12,500-seat Royal Arena in Copenhagen.

Host Denmark will play in Group B in Herning with Canada, Germany, the United States, Finland, Norway, Latvia and Korea. The games will be played at the 11,000-capacity Jyske Bank Boxen.

Belarus will open the tournament against new world champion Sweden and conclude the group stage against Slovakia.

Team Belarus game timetable:

4 May 2017: Sweden vs Belarus (faceoff at 21.15),

5 May: France vs Belarus (17.15),

7 May: Belarus vs Russia (17.15),

9 May: Switzerland vs Belarus (17.15),

11 May: Belarus vs the Czech Republic (21.15),

12 May: Austria vs Belarus (17.15),

15 May: Belarus vs Slovakia (17.15).

Quarterfinals will be held on both the arenas. Royal Arena will host the semifinals on 19 May and medal games on 20 May. The ticket sale will start on 1 September 2017.
