Some Br72m to be earmarked to implement e-Health concept in Belarus in 2018-2021

MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) – About Br72 million will be allocated to implement the e-Health concept in Belarus in 2018-2021, Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Sergei Popkov noted at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative (CEI) on 28 November, BelTA informs.

According to the minister, e-Health is really necessary. Belarus' e-Health development concept for the period up to 2022 is in the process of adoption. It mainly aims at covering the whole population with equal safe high-quality health services regardless of the place of residence. “Around Br72 million will be allocated by the World Bank to put the concept into practice in 2018-2021,” Sergei Popkov remarked.

He also said that Electronic School, another project launched in Belarus, envisages further development and implementation of online solutions to provide various innovative services, such as electronic class register, school diary, timetable, and others. At least 80% Belarusian schools should be involved in the project by 2020.

The current session of the CEI PA has gathered representatives of 13 countries in the Belarusian capital. It focuses on digital technologies in the context of geopolitical security. The participants are discussing digital economy development taking into account information security, digital banking technologies, legislative, organizational, and other measures to support the manufacture of IT products, unmanned driving technologies, artificial intelligence, and biotechnologies.

Belarus presides in the Central European Initiative (CEI) in 2017. This regional association includes 18 countries. The main task of the CEI is to promote flexible and pragmatic European regional cooperation in order to prevent the emergence of new dividing lines in Europe.
