New reactor vessel for second unit of Belarusian nuclear power plant up to specifications

MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – The reactor pressure vessel for the second power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant fits all the technical requirements, Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik told BelTA in an interview.

According to the source, the reactor pressure vessel intended for the second power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was initially manufactured for the second unit of the Baltic nuclear power plant by the Russian company Izhorskiye Zavody. Since the Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using the Russian nuclear power plant design VVER-1200 and the design of the Baltic nuclear power plant in Kaliningrad Oblast is the same, technical requirements for the reactor unit, including the reactor pressure vessel, are the same.

Vladimir Potupchik noted that the vessel passed all the quality checks at the manufacturing site before being shipped to the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

The reactor pressure vessel has already been delivered to the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. A receipt inspection was arranged as per regulations.
