Vasilevskaya plans to share her space experience with Belarusian school students

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – I have plans to share her space experience with school students, the first cosmonaut of sovereign Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya told the media before a meeting with young people at the National Academy of Sciences in Minsk on 26 April, BelTA has learned.

"I would very much like to popularize cosmonautics and science in general. For us, this [the flight of a Belarusian into space] is a new stage. I think that we need to start popularization efforts from childhood. I would like to visit kindergartens, schools, junior classes in order to give an impetus to the space industry in our country,"  Marina Vasilevskaya noted.

She added that now she takes part in a lot of events. "A lot of people invite me to share my space experience. I am doing this for the benefit of my country, my people," she said.

As for the preparation and the flight itself, it was not easy, she said. "But it was very interesting and important for our country, society and science. Each stage is a brick in the foundation of our space power, our country," Marina Vasilevskaya said.

Speaking about the experiments, she noted that it was interesting to do them. "I am happy that the experiments went well. I was told that they landed on the Earth with live bacteria. I'm happy that everything worked out," she added.

When asked how she feels, the cosmonaut noted that space is not favorable for the human body, especially the female one. "We are refined natures, yet very strong. I have surmounted it all, completed rehabilitation," she said.

Marina Vasilevskaya said that she feels the support of the Belarusian people and this gives her energy.
