Belarusian nuclear industry watchdog to study Hungary's experience of welcoming inspections

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) will study Hungary's experience of organizing inspections of nuclear power plants, BelTA learned from Head of Gosatomnadzor's Communications and Public Information Department Oleg Sobolev.

Representatives of Gosatomnadzor and the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) had a working meeting during the 61st session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna on 18 September. The sides exchanged information about this year's important events relating to the regulation of nuclear and radiation safety and discussed prospects of further joint actions and events.

In particular, the Hungarian side agreed to welcome representatives of the Belarusian nuclear industry regulating agency and explain its regulating requirements for the systems designed to secure the quality of licensees and their implementation. Inspections of operating nuclear power plants will be explained as well.

The meeting was arranged as part of the memorandum on cooperation between the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry and the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority. The document was signed in September 2016.
