MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian kayakers that went missing in Karelia have been found safe, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia.
According to the recent media reports, three Belarusians went to Karelia by car in late July. They planned a kayaking trip on the Shuya River. They planned to return home on 4 August and were last contacted on 25 July. A search was launched for three Belarusian nationals in the area of the Shuya River.
On 10 August a daughter of one of the missing Belarusians posted a Twitter message saying: “They have been found safe. Big thanks to everyone.”
“So far we only know that they got lost and could not leave the area because of rains. Now they are on their way home and very soon they will be back to Belarus,” she added later.More about Society
