Belarus hosts international tactical exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2017

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Over 800 military personnel of Belarus, Russia, and Serbia are participating in a joint tactical exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2017, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

“Over 800 servicemen and more than 100 military and special vehicles are participating in the drill. The exercise is taking place at the Brestsky training range, Brest District, and is led by Major General Vadim Denisenko, Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus,” the press service said.

The exercise has two stages. The active phase of the drill will be held from 12 to 14 June. The military personnel of the three countries will practice joint anti-terrorism activities, which will improve the cooperation between the units that are part of the regular and integrated multinational units during the implementation of different tasks to combat terrorism.

The joint Belarus-Russia-Serbia tactical exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2017 will run through 15 June. The drill involves units of the 38th Independent Guards Air Assault Brigade of the Belarusian Special Operations Forces, the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of the Russian Airborne Troops, and the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces. Together, the military contingents form a multinational battalion tactical group.
