New ambassadors to Kyrgyzstan, Japan appointed in Belarus

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed new ambassadors of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan and Japan, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Strachko has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Kyrgyz Republic.

Belarus' efforts will be focused on the development of cooperation projects. A plant making Belarus tractors was commissioned in Kyrgyzstan in June 2016. Work continues to set up a similar plant to assemble harvesters. Plans have also been made to open a joint venture to manufacture mining equipment.

As for the trade, Belarus boosted its exports to Kyrgyzstan almost three-fold in January 2017. “This is quite a good result. We have a basis for growth,” Andrei Strachko noted.

Ruslan Yesin has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Japan. The head of state set a goal to develop bilateral cooperation with this country in all fields and focus the efforts on strengthening the economic relations.

The diplomat believes that the relations between the two countries hold great potential. For instance, there are good reserves for the development of interregional cooperation. “Our effort to intensify the ties between our administrative and territorial units and the regions of Japan is an important reserve that we have today and will use in the future,” Ruslan Yesin emphasized.

The establishment of a Belarusian-Japanese industrial park in Belarus' Mogilev Oblast can become a promising project. “The work is at the initial stage. If there is interest from Japanese business and Belarusian entrepreneurs, we could actively promote the project,” Ruslan Yesin added.
