Lukashenko: Year of Science should be a truly momentous year

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – The Year of Science should be the year of milestones and accomplishments, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he presented doctor of sciences diplomas and professor certificates to scientists and lecturers on 26 January, BelTA has learned.

Science is often compared with an ocean, the unexplored environment with thousands of opportunities for a man. “It is true that in the impetuous torrent of search and discoveries only those who will be bold enough to go beyond standard thinking and look for new ways and directions will win. Only by setting ambitious and sometimes impossible goals you can achieve something truly important,” Alexander Lukashenko is convinced. He expressed confidence that true scientists, including the people present at the ceremony today, set such goals.

Today is a very important day and an extraordinary event for scientists – the ceremony to present doctor of sciences diplomas and professor certificates. According to the President, the ceremony is especially important for Belarus. “In fact, it gives a start to the Year of Science in the country. This year is meant to be a landmark and truly momentous year for science. It is important not only from the point of view of large-scale events or new discoveries. Of course, such things are significant. It is much more important that this year we must advance this sector to a brand-new level and upgrade it,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
