Belarusian state bodies urged to step up efforts to promote young talents

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Government agencies should take a more active part in the promotion of young talents, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the meeting with creative youth at the Belarusian State Youth Theater on 20 March, BelTA informs.

“I understand that today is the time for managers and producers to unveil stars in art and show business. But government bodies should not stand aside from this process either. The ministries of culture, information and education, as well as television, radio, printed media, should take a more active part in the search for and promotion of young talents,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The president cited the Eurovision Song Contest which is very popular in Belarus as an example. “Of course, this is a popular and beautiful TV show, and it is important for Belarus to perform well there. However, certain people in our country have already turned it into the event of the century, while our opera singers and ballet dancers, great musicians and folk band deliver scintillating performances worldwide. Foreign audiences know and like them very much. But what names are widely known in our country? What have we done for it?” the head of state wondered.

Meanwhile, classical art is very popular in Belarus. The country hosts international theater forums, opera festivals, jazz concerts to a full house.

According to the president, it is especially important to step up efforts to promote young talents in the Year of Native Land. “Gifted people should be famous especially in their own country. If we do not take care of ourselves, no one will do it for us. There are many people willing to criticize us abroad. So let's stop doing it here. Let's respect ourselves more and value our talents,” the head of state said.

Culture and art should be an example. Belarusian people can be proud of many things, Alexander Lukashenko said. “A day will not be enough to recall all brilliant people born in Belarus. Many of them have become famous in other countries. But the main thing is that these great people have their roots here. Our native country inspires and gives us strength,” the president said.

“Yes, our people shine abroad, and we do not even know all of them here. But we must understand that their way to stardom began here. We should not forget it,” the head of state emphasized.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that Belarusian artists should be famous abroad. “This is the face of our Homeland, our Belarus. And this face should be beautiful. Only you can make it beautiful,” he said.
