Belarus president's visit to Sudan over

KHARTOUM, 17 January (BelTA) – The official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Sudan has come to an end. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board has left Khartoum International Airport, BelTA has learned.

In the capital of Sudan, Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir. The parties agreed to step up cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including trade, industry, agriculture, and humanitarian affairs. Belarus and Sudan signed an agreement on friendly relations and cooperation and several other international documents.

The Belarusian leader also met with Sudan's Vice President Hassabu Mohamed Abdalrahman and Speaker of the National Assembly of Sudan Ibrahim Ahmed Omer.

Alexander Lukashenko addressed members of the two chambers of the Sudanese parliament, told them about the advantages of cooperation with Belarus and the results of the top-level meeting in Khartoum. He also presented his view of the current Belarusian-Sudanese relations.

Khartoum played host to the Belarus-Sudan business forum on 17 January. Its participants signed a number of contracts and reached promising agreements.
