Belarus president's special fund to spend some Br300,000 to support gifted students

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed an executive order to approve the decision made by the council of the Belarus president special fund to provide social support to gifted school and university students, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

Almost Br277,000 will be spent on paying scholarships to 179 university students and cadets, on paying 29 money prizes to winners of international academic excellence competitions, art and engineering contests, on paying 185 encouragement prizes to pedagogues and scientists, who have made a contribution to the development of the skills of the gifted youth.

About Br65,000 will be spent on improving the equipment and physical infrastructure of the biological diversity lab at the Belarusian State University with a view to improving the quality of practical training of biology students.

The president's decision is supposed to ensure individualized state support for gifted students and to enable favorable conditions for their development.
