Makei: World's leading countries should take concrete steps in peace matters

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – The world's leading countries should not just call for peace at different international summits but take concrete steps in these matters, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview to the United Nations Radio, BelTA informs.

“There is a strong need for addressing the issues related to settling conflicts, including military conflicts that can be spotted in different regions of the planet nowadays. We hear hundreds and thousands of words at various summits on the matter. However, we do not see concrete action, especially from the leading geopolitical players who this situation depends on. We should really take a thought about, let's call it, “a new world order” that could help stop these conflicts,” said Vladimir Makei.

The Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the current situation in the world is not less volatile than it was a couple of decades ago. The world leaders should find strength, sit down at the negotiating table and start discussing the issues of peace and stability, the diplomat said.
