Guminsky appointed CIS First Deputy Executive Secretary

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – Viktor Guminsky has been appointed CIS First Deputy Executive Secretary, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee. The decision was made at the expanded-participation meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Minsk on 28 October, BelTA has learned.

The appointment was initiated by Belarus. CIS Executive Secretary, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev noted: “Viktor Guminsky has an impressive background and a vast experience in political and public service.”

Viktor Guminsky was a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the last four convocations. He chaired the Permanent Commission for National Security and served as Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives.

The Statute of the CIS Executive Committee reads that the First Deputy is appointed by the CIS Heads of Government Council.
