CIS observers recognize Azerbaijan referendum as transparent, valid

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – The observation mission of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) has recognized the recent referendum in Azerbaijan as transparent and valid, Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Lebedev said that the CIS IPA observers have finished their work in Azerbaijan and recognized the referendum as valid and transparent.

“The results of the referendum, the high number of votes in favor of the proposals prove that people support these changes to Azerbaijan's social and political structure. The CIS IPA sent a mission to monitor the referendum. I have been informed that the CIS IPA observers recognized the referendum as valid, transparent, democratic, and reflecting the will of the people of Azerbaijan,” Sergei Lebedev said.
