Belarus, New Zealand intend to intensify political dialogue

MOSCOW, 28 June (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Russia Ian Alexander Hill in Moscow on 28 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“The parties exchanged opinion on the most pressing issues on the bilateral agenda. The parties, in particular, discussed the ways of intensifying political dialogue through an exchange of visits at different levels and bolstering ties between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs,” the press service noted.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation within the framework of international organizations and also to trade and investment interaction.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and New Zealand were established on 9 April 1992. In 2015 the bilateral trade amounted to more than $25 million. Belarus gave its consent to the appointment of Ian Alexander Hill to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Belarus on concurrent. Belarusian Ambassador to Australia Viktor Shikh got concurrent accreditation in New Zealand on 15 April 2015.
