Belarus CEC representatives to monitor parliamentary elections in Armenia

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina and member of the commission Svetlana Katsubo will participate in the monitoring of the elections to the National Assembly of Armenia, reads a statement posted on the website of the CEC, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian observers will make part of the CIS observation mission which will include more than 170 representatives from eight countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), and also representatives of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Executive Committee.

The CIS mission will be headed by Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.

The elections to the Armenian National Assembly are scheduled for 2 April 2017. During a referendum held in December 2015 Armenia voted in favor of switching from a presidential to a parliamentary form of government.
