Kalyada Christmas festival in Vitebsk

On 6 January, Orthodox Christians celebrated Christmas Eve. On the night of 6 to 7 January, Belarusian churches traditionally served a Christmas liturgy which marked the end of the Christmas fast and the start of Christmas holidays accompanied by merrymaking and folk festivals. Despite the -29°C frost in Vitebsk, people took to the streets to celebrate Kalyada.
