Mogilevkhimvolokno to sign $100m worth of contracts at Belarus-Russia forum

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Mogilevkhimvolokno is expected to sign three contracts worth $100 million during a session of the Business Cooperation Council that will take place on the sidelines of the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 12 October, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Economy, Budget and Finances of Belarus' Council of the Republic Vladimir Pantyukhov told reporters on 3 October, BelTA has learned.

All in all, contracts worth at least $500 million are to be signed this year. Contracts will be concluded by Mogilevliftmash, Mogotex and other enterprises. “Mutual search for partners is underway. The contracts to be signed suggest that we can be confident about the future,” Vladimir Pantyukhov said.

Alexander Popkov, the Chairman of the Standing Committee for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government of the Council of the Republic, recalled that Belarus is facing an ambitious task to increase its GDP twofold up to $100 billion by 2025. Russia wants to do the same. According to the senator, the countries need to join efforts to achieve these goals. Contracts and cooperation agreements to be signed at the forum are to play their part in these efforts.

The 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Mogilev on 10-12 October. The event is organized by the Council of the Republic of Belarus' National Assembly and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia. More than 70 cooperation documents are to be signed at international, regional and local levels.
